Blending Physical and Digital Gameplay to Reinvent Educational Exhibits

Project

SDG&E Resilience Zone

Year

2024

The San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) Resilience Zone marked my first major leadership project at Trivium Interactive, where I spearheaded internal design and production management for multiple interactive experiences, bringing each from initial concept through completion. As the internal leader of "Team Ben," I directed a diverse group of designers, developers, and content creators, effectively applying agile methodologies and structured production processes to deliver groundbreaking, interactive exhibits.

These interactives were designed to educate visitors on energy resilience, conservation strategies, and emergency preparedness, engaging audiences through intuitive gameplay mechanics and visually compelling graphics. Among the experiences, visitors learned hands-on about energy efficiency by managing power resources during simulated emergencies, understanding electrical grid dynamics through interactive models, and exploring sustainable energy solutions via immersive digital scenarios.

My responsibilities included overseeing the production timeline, facilitating seamless collaboration across teams, conducting sprint planning sessions, managing stakeholder communications, and ensuring each interactive experience aligned closely with the educational and experiential goals set forth by SDG&E. By effectively managing the creative vision and production realities, I ensured that each exhibit was delivered to an exceptional quality standard and resonated deeply with visitors.

The SDG&E Resilience Zone not only represented a significant milestone in my career, showcasing my capability to manage complex, multi-faceted interactive projects but also demonstrated the tangible impact thoughtful, interactive design can have on public education and community preparedness.
